./february 2025
- started reading Permutation City (1994, Greg Egan)
- started reading The Hobbit with silvia
- invited a friend to watch the Oscars here at home and we were all very angry to see Fernanda Torres being robbed
- watched the first half of the first season of True Detective (2014) and was surprised because it's as good as I remembered
- watched The Substance (2024) and thought it was cool
- watched Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (2024) and got 'I'm a happy nifty norbot' stuck in my head
- finished watching Scavenger's Reign (2023) and felt sad and orphaned
- went to a public hospital for follow-up on my surgery, and fortunately was informed that recovery is going well -- much better than expected, in fact
- waited 1h30 for a lunch that, when it arrived, turned out to be double the quantity we were expecting, so it also became dinner
- ate one and a half empadas
- was surprised, and minimally frustrated, that the water temperature was glacial -- I'm talking 8ºC (46ºF), water that when it touched my foot made it go numb
- in a moment of indecision, opted to go to the beach with silvia and her family
- entered a cave!
- accidentally appeared in a newspaper article about the city for being very close to the organizer while they were taking his photo
- was confused to realize that the famous waterfalls were, in many cases, just puddles
- felt engaged with the local community
- together with silvia and a couple of friends, participated in a hike organized by my neighborhood's residents association
- had a problem with my flight and only managed to solve it after literally 2 hours with a Latam attendant on the phone, which served as a nice reminder that if they fire all these people to put ChatGPT in their place, the planet will simply stop spinning
- was reminded how ugly as hell Brasília is
- for the second time in my life, was less than 50km from the Esplanade of Ministries and didn't take a photo there
- for the second time in my life, visited my country's capital
- kept wondering (and still do) why a religion invented by a Frenchman in the 18th century based on Victorian pseudo-science became a footnote everywhere in the world except in Brazil, where it's the third religion with the most followers
- told this to my psychologist and then felt a bit embarrassed because I found out she was a Kardecist and I was repeating things she already knew
- was fascinated by the connection between animal magnetism-- also called Mesmerism --, and Kardecist spiritism (the "spirit pass" is a "magnetic pass"!!)
- discovered Patrick Kelly's channel and fell in love
- stimulated by RPG-focused research, fell down the rabbit hole of reading about Victorian pseudo-science
- made an app that controls the lamp via wi-fi
- made a Shadowdark GM screen
- GM'd a Shadowdark session and it was the worst session I've ever GM'd in my life
- took important steps toward having a minimally consistent table
- played 5 RPG sessions, 3 online and 2 in person
This month was hot as hell. An unbearable heat, the kind that prevents you from thinking about anything else. A heat that drains you and takes away your will to live. Honestly this month I didn't live, I just survived.
Besides that I'm falling deeper and deeper into the hole of RPG games, and this has been making me very Happy. It was always a Dream of mine, and now that I'm having the opportunity to make it happen, it's being as Good as I imagined it would be. The only problem is that I'm starting to put capital letters on Random words, but honestly I think that's a small price to Pay
If you're interested in playing tabletop RPG with me (via Discord or in person), get in touch via Telegram or Bluesky! I have Plans
