CD-ROM Portal

welcome to the cd-rom portal!!

Between the 90s and 2000s, hundreds of CD-ROM games were sold at newsstands throughout Brazil, accompanying magazines like CD Expert, Fullgames, CD-ROM Criança, and many others. However, despite these releases having left marks in the memories of an entire generation, it is still very difficult to find information about most of these games, let alone downloadable versions. Often, the existence of a game is so hard to prove that the person ends up convincing themselves they were hallucinating!

In order to exorcise memories and chart a path through this ocean of obscure games, in 2020 I started looking for these games, making them publicly available, cataloguing everything that is known about them, and recording complete gameplays of what was available. It's a huge task, but thanks to the voluntary and collaborative effort of dozens of people, more than 200 obscure games have been found! Since children's games are the hardest to find, they have been the focus of the effort so far.

My role in this process is merely that of an organizer: thanks to the success of the YouTube channel, many people contact me telling me about their own personal CD-ROM collections. I curate these games, teach how to extract the .ISO file if necessary, and upload the game to the Internet Archive - obviously giving all preservation credits to the person who kept the CDs for so many years, and who made the effort to extract and share them with the rest of the world. Thanks to this system, we are gradually recovering the memories of thousands of people.

This site is the project's headquarters. Click the menu on the left to navigate through the pages and discover everything about CD-ROMs you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask. A quick guide to where things are:

If you have CD-ROMs lying around and would like to collaborate with the project, please get in touch! You might have someone else's lost memory in your hands!
